Japan Program for Japanese Subsidiaries

Working with Japanese and frustrated?   We have time-tested solutions and proven strategies for you!

International Excellence® - Japan is our flagship program.  It is a results-driven, highly interactive, one- to two-day program. It is designed to achieve both short and long-term bottom-line results by providing a combination of relevant insight and skill development. Building on the basic knowledge of Japanese business culture which the participants have gained in their experience in the company, this program takes concepts to the next level by focusing on deep insight and practical application.

Using exercises to develop cross-cultural interpersonal business skills, case studies to develop analytical skills, and by providing immediately useful template-type tools, International Excellence® - Japan empowers you to start transforming their interactions with the Japanese to be more positive and productive.  The approach is not so much to learn to accommodate the Japanese culture, but rather to discover how to use knowledge of the culture to increase effectiveness in managing Japan-related responsibilities.

The benefits to the company are the development of a local workforce and executive team with the insight and skills to:

  • Deftly utilize Japanese processes for implementing their ideas and influencing outcomes.
  • Create positive palns to accomplish their work goals.
  • Increase their effectiveness in communicating, connecting, interacting, and collaborating with Japanese
  • Amplify their ability contribute to decisions, maximize information, build relationships, and accomplish their daily objectives.

Content will be selected and customized to meet your specific needs.

A few quotes from evaluations of recent programs.

"It was an eye-opening Course that I will definitely refer back to.  - Cody Wilhide, Product Planner"

"Among the most useful training programs I've ever experienced at Toyota!  I not only learned more about Japanese culture, I learned more about myself.  - Paul Darerio, General Manager, Product Planning & Strategy, Toyota"

"Even with 25 years' experience of working with the Japanese and having been in Japan 31 times on business travel, I still found the seminar useful and informative."

Cross-Cultural Team Building

Transform Conflict to Positive Energy

Transforming the cultural differences of a team into assets can be a challenge. Maximizing the talents and participation of members from more than one culture involves a high level of communication skill and interpersonal trust. Without good working relationships, the quality and quantity of the output suffer, and ultimately a company may face high employee turnover.

When a workgroup represents an international joint venture, or when its members interact "virtually," the challenges become even greater, and special steps are necessary to foster results.

Cross-Cultural Teambuilding, or Team Alignment, is the most effective way to make sure your team has the cross-cultural knowledge, skill, and partnership to collaborate and work effectively.

Based on a team diagnostic that identifies key issues, we develop a custom intervention designed to clarify and align the goals of the team. During the intervention, we work with team members to cultivate an understanding of the other culture(s) and develop flexibility in communicating across cultures.

The issues-based core activities facilitate team alignment, build team trust, and develop productive working relationships. This provides the foundation for differences to be leveraged and for the team to achieve its highest potential.

IntXel's Teambuilding Coaches effectively transform teams with very complex issues to high-performance groups.

At SEKISUI SPI, we are not big on 'mission statements' or 'vision' and 'values' posters stuck on the walls of our manufacturing campuses. However, we regularly talk about our mission, vision, and values throughout the organization at every level. My mom and dad didn't 'post' our family values on the refrigerator. They lived them. And they taught our family why they matter. It's the same at SPI. Our teams share common missions, visions and values - without posters. We live our values by focusing on strengths and exploring opportunities for improvement. We believe that we 'get what we focus on'. So, we focus on what we do well and what we can do better. This week, we had an opportunity to explore 'what we can do better'. With support from intXel, our Manufacturing Technology and Manufacturing Operations teams collaborated in a two-day training session on intercultural team building. This is a long term initiative to help us realize one of our missions: Embrace the hashtag#Monozukuri spirit of our Japanese ownership to be a competitive supplier and collaborative partner to our customers while we leverage our American spirit of ‘innovation and entrepreneurship’ that keeps our customers and partners at the forefront of their industries. - Ronn Cort, President & COO of SEKISUI SPI
